Gareth Jenkins has a masters degree in psychology with specialisations in adolescent psychology and neuropsychology, particularly with respect to brain function and memory retention. His PhD focused on the intersection of creativity and mental health, with particular reference to schizophrenia. Gareth has published widely on this subject and presented his research in Australia, Europe and the USA.

Gareth has delivered a wide range of creative workshops for children, young people and adults for over twenty-five years in schools, community centres, libraries and prisons. He is a trained facilitator of the anti-bullying program Rock and Water, has studied project-based learning with Big Picture Education Australia and has a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. Gareth is an experienced child protection specialist and holds a current Working With Children Check.

Gareth has been a creative writer, particularly in the area of experimental literature, for over 20 years and is widely published. His first fully length poetry collection, Recipes for the Disaster, won the 2019 Anne Elder Award. He is currently the story consultant for a documentary in-development about the artist and writer Anthony Mannix.
